QUOTE "The Bible is really, cover to cover, a Book of Covenants. A covenant is really a promise. We know that one of the chief characteristics of Almighty God as revealed in the Bible is His willingness to enter into such promises with His weak creation. Logically there can be no good reason for why god should do this, no reason but love. The Mosaic covenant is actually different from all the others. It was given really as a Divine legal system for man to keep and attached to it were a myriad of conditions. By it's very nature very much depended on man and, for sure, man failed miserably to live up to it's numerous conditions. However, all the other major covenants of the Bible were given as 'simple grace' covenants, not as a complex legal systems. Ch. 9 of Gen. assures of the forever promise of the rainbow and that God will never again bring a global flood... This Everlasting Covenant, in Hebrew, "Brit Olam".... As the waters shall never cover the earth--so too, the House of Israel, through Abraham will never be wiped out, suffer permanent loss, nor ever, ever lose the Real Estate Deed... Thus it is written, saith the Lord........ The above is copied, in part, from the June 1984 Newsletter of the David Deckers in Israel.
Some of the Covenants are pure grace because of our Loving Heavenly Father... some are: conditional- if you will do-- He will. some are under vows, pledges, agreements with one or more parties for a limited or unlimited time. Some are under Divine Laws and the fall-out of the blessings or curses... Deuteronomy 29-31, Isaiah 55, Mark 11:22-26, John 14:14, II Chronicles 7:14. The promise of the Father... Luke 24:49, Joel 2:28,29, Acts 1:8. The last will and Testament of our Lord, Matthew 28:18, Mark 16:16-20. Food, shelter, and clothing and a great health-care plan. Genesis 1:2.
The Blood Covenant , Exodus 12:13, Leviticus 17:11, I Peter 1:19, Hebrews 13:20.
Covenant with Life, John 3:16, 5:24, John 3:36, John 10:10, John 6:63
Covenant with Death, Isaiah 28:15, Genesis 2:17, Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 20:14, Revelation 21:4, John 8:21,24, Matthew 23:27-32.
The binding agreement if you hear, believe, receive and do the Word of God... Isaiah 55:11, Jeremiah 23:29, Matthew 24:35, John 5:24, 8:31, Revelation 3:8, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119:89, Psalm 119: 105, 138:2, Luke 1:38, John 17:17, Acts 4:29.
The marriage covenant--Genesis 2:19-25, Matthew 19:1-9, Matthew 5:17.
The Lord swears: Kindness, Psalm 89:49, blessing His land, Isaiah 65:16-25, By His own Name, Hebrews 6:13-20, Hebrews 7:21-25.
Let us keep faith in the Lord and in his Covenants from now throughout all eternity....(p. on cov. of: peace, rest, prayer.)
