DD - Assertiveness Training for Christians

10/1981

An Outline... (mot juste) the exact right word.  precise - expressive and well phrased.  Ask God

Assertive:  (Webster)..'to state positively... affirm... declare... to stand by one's statement because of evidence, experience or faith... to demand and compel recognition...'  tell it like it is... say what you mean... plain speaking.

I.  Jesus Christ our Blessed Redeemer and role-model teacher - person...
Jesus knew who He was and is.
Messiah - Son of God... John 4:25, John 10:36... (do more research)
Light of the world... JOhn 8
    Door... John 10
    Way - Truth - Life... John 14
One who forgives sins... John 8:11, John 5, John 9
He did not look for men for honor... John 5:41, 42
He declared His authority--spoke not as other men... John 7, John 6, John 21:22
Spoke to the Father... John 17... to disciples... Luke 8:9,10... to crowd... Luke 5:36... to Pharisees... Matthew 23... to Satan... Matthew 4...
Jesus asserted Himself by telling the disciples what He was going to do, then He did it, then He told them what He did...
No man ever spoke like this Man... John 7:46...

II.  The New Assertive Woman, by Dr. L. Bloom, K. Coburn and J. Pearlman tells of an assertive behaviour and the benefits.  It is suggested to work on areas that need help.  Also, the best seller a few years ago, Pulling Your Own Strings, by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, opens up a few ways to improve, enrich and become effective as a person.. We can profit much by adhering to the good things suggested by these writers.  God has already spoken in His Word how to live the life, the life of freedom and liberty by allowing Him to have His way in our lives and being filled with the Spirit.

Jesus Christ redeemed our 'whole person;.  He redeemed our values, honored women, shows us by His Word how to become God's Woman in 1981.
(we will stop and consider specifics)
practice saying that 'sanctified no' - or choose that 'yes'
stop being a 'victim' - your capabilities
operating from strength - stop that comparison trap

III. Know who we are...  Ephesians 1, Speak the truth in love, Obey the 1st and greatest commandment... Be controlled by the Spirit of God, present our bodies a living sacrifice, call on God to change our negative image to a positive expression of our high calling in Christ Jesus.  Thank God for that 'sound mind', the gifts He has given us, the productivity of our ministry, the daily deliverance as we die to self.  Take that extra grace to deal with difficult situations and as we face them, experience the release of fears.

IV.  Start NOW asserting yourself to:
God--- Genesis 3, Job 5:17-27,  Isaiah 54:11-17, Malachi 4:3, Romans 8:17 etc.
To ourselves--- Isaiah 53, II Corinthians 5:21, I John 5:18, John 5:18, John 5:24, I Timothy 6:18.
To people - Philippians 4:13, II Timothy 1:7, Romans 1:16, Romans 8, II Timothy 6:12
To Satan - James 4:7, I Peter 5:8,9, Luke 10:19, Isaiah 61, Luke 4:18 etc.

RESULTS:
Respect, able to express feelings and truth, to listen, to be listened to, to support others, to obtain understanding, to be free to use abilities and skills in the power of the Lord...
